Maisie Williams gets serious about self-perception issues playing Arya in 'Rounds of Thrones'
Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones has just talked about the internal struggle she faced when writing an essay for the role of Arya Stark in the popular HBO series.
In an interview with British GQ, Williams admitted that when she started playing Arya, she started young, but over the course of the season turned into a woman.
"I think when I began turning into a lady, I disdained Arya in light of the fact that I was unable to communicate who I was becoming," she owned up to the distribution.
The 24-year-old also said that it was becoming increasingly difficult for her to portray her character as a cheeky tomboy because her body didn't match what the world wanted to see.
“I also resented my body because it didn't match the part of me that the world glorified,” she said, talking about her complications.
Williams hinted that she doesn't miss her character when asked about her experience, and immediately responded by asking, “Can I not say any of this?”
Adding to her statement, she explained, “I don't think it's great [to miss it] because I liked it.”
The actress also noted that despite her resentment towards the character, she was glad to be a part of something so great.
“I look at it with such love, and I look at it with such pride. But why should I force myself to be sad about the greatest event that has ever happened to me? I don't want to associate it with a feeling of pain,” she said.
